Repairing a Portable DVD Player

Once at the flea market, buying junk, I was giving this portable DVD player for free. It is one of those really cheap ones with the NES emulator and "Game" port.
It tunred on but wouldn't read any discs. The USB and SD card ports worked as well as the quite handy AV in and out.
I took it apart to see if I can fix the disc drive.

Turns out there was nothing wrong with the Drive itself, but the battery cells were very swollen and they bent the housing in such a way where it makes contact with the disc, stopping it from spinning.

After removing the cells the disc started spinning and reading
It now successfully reads discs
