Idiot learning Japanese

After various social media platforms showed me posts about learning Japanese I finally decided to give in and start trying fully expecting to give up after 30 minutes or so. I didn't give up, somehow. Currently I have learned hiragana and the basics of katakana.

How am I learning Japanese?

I am using an edutainment game I found on Steam from a Reddit ad of all places called "Learn Japanese Kana & Vocab with Sushi".

It's a pretty nifty little game that helped me get started. And with some time and effort, I can read some words, which is pretty neat, especially for an Idiot who started on Saturday (25.10.2025).

I also have plans to change some of my phone's language settings to Japanese but I think I would just end up using muscle memory to navigate it. So I need to get something stupid which I have never used and set that to Japanese. But most stupid things don't have Japanese language support.

And laptops won't work either because of the JIS keyboard layout and all of mine are QWERTZ. Also they don't have 'あ' which is 'a' labeled on the 'A' key, it's on '3' for some reason.
Also I once set my Laptop to Japanese and I wanted to open Notepad, so I searched for "Notepad" and typed "のてぱd" this nonsense which is 'no', 'te', 'pa' and just a 'd'. And it just opened up Bing, and I was very confused, and stupid.
